Short Story time!

This restaurant had recently become their favorite eating and discussion place as it had a soft lighting, peaceful jazz music always playing at the background at nights and the ambience was usually very soothing too.

It did not take long for Pearl to locate her K at the table he had booked. This table was located in a part of the restaurant that enabled them to be able to discuss well without much  interference by others coming in and going out. K always did ensure to book really early to avoid disappointments. Suffice to say, it was their favorite spot.

Ken had been sitting for only 5minutes when Pearl came in. With eyes lit up with so much excitement, she smiled and she walked up to him. As she got to the table, he stood up to give her a bear hug and he smiled and as a matter of fact said, "you look breathtakingly beautiful my one in a million Pearl"

Blushing, she replied, " Thank you K! you look amazing too!"

Just then, Ken pulled out her chair and as she sat down, she amusingly said, "thanks my perfect gentleman"

Ken mischievously said with a pouted mouth," thank you, eh!"

They both laughed and eventually asked how their days went with a little teasing laced with humor and sarcasm here and there.

Pearl was hands down a beautiful 24year old lady. She was chocolate in complexion with a spotless skin and very light brown eyes which was an attribute of a recessive gene. She had a natural afro hair which were below shoulders long and she always had them curled with middle parting. She rarely had make up as she had a naturally beautiful face. But this night, she had her face made up. She was not tall, just about 5 feet 3 inches in height. She was what we call beauty and brains,

She was the best graduating student in her class in the University with a grade point of 4.98 in Software engineering. So she got job offers both home and abroad and she started working immediately after school and she got retained after her national youth service corps. Furthermore, her parents were very wealthy entrepreneurs who had been married and still together for 25years. 

Ken was a good looking guy with a very attractive and  appealing aura. He was just about 5feet 6inches and was very fair skinned. He was also intelligent and graduated with a 2:1 in Information technology. He had been working from school because he could not really rely on his parents after school. His father was extremely wealthy but was separated from his mum and his dad had told Ken explicitly that he suffered to be wealthy so all he would do is pay all fees to only BSc level after that Ken should man up. his mom on the other hand was remarried and far away in canada with her new family and was just getting by as the days went.

Because of this, Ken had been so enterprising from school and luckily, fate smiled so much on him that he was able start a business in IT immediately after school. This business picked up so well and it's one of the best tech firms in Nigeria.

Ken would always attribute his success to God at any given opportunity. He had about 2,000 workers spread across Lagos, Abuja and Delta states. He was a successful and well sort after 30years old bachelor.

With tears welled up in her eyes, she looked him straight in the eyes and asked him for the second time, "Kennedy, why did you do this to me?"

Ken could not help but noticed how she called him by his full name rather than K as she fondly does.

The tears were streaming down her eyes now and Ken whose lips had begun to quiver from unexplained shame extended his trembling arms across the table inorder to wipe the tears off her well made up cheeks with his handkerchief.

"Don't bother," she said quietly as she shrugged his hands away.

Ken muttered under his breath whilst still staring keenly at Pearl, "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I did not know how to tell you".
